How to get to EACLALS 2021 conference

From Heathrow Airport

Bus

The National Express bus leaves from Terminal 2&3 and will take you to Cardiff Coach Station [near 44 on map], about 1.5 miles and a short taxi ride from university campus. If your plane lands at Terminal 4 or 5, you can catch a shuttle to Terminal 2&3. The National Express bus runs every hour and takes around 3 hours 30 minutes. Train

The Heathrow Express train starts at Terminal 5, stops at Terminal 2&3 and goes directly to Paddington Station. It run every 15/20 minutes and take 15/20 minutes. If you land at Terminal 4, you can catch a shuttle to one of the other terminals.

 

Trains from Paddington Station depart to Cardiff Central Station [below 86 on map] every 30 minutes. It will be marked as the train to Swansea Station. This train is significantly cheaper at off-peak times (9.18am-4.18pm). This train takes just under 2 hours. From here, trains to Cathays Station [between 31 and 34 on map] take you to the university campus itself and run every 10 minutes from Cardiff Central Station [below 86 on map].  To book trains check www.gwr.com

A taxi from Heathrow Airport to Cardiff will cost £175-£195 one way and takes around 2 hours 30 minutes.

From Gatwick Airport

Train

The Gatwick Airport Railway Station is situated in the South terminal. Shuttles from the North terminal run regularly. Trains to Reading Station run every hour. From Reading Station, take a train to Cardiff Central Station [below 86 on map]. It will be marked as the train to Swansea Station. This journey takes around 3 hours 30 minutes. From here, trains to Cathays Station [between 31 and 34 on map] take you to the university campus itself and run every 10 minutes from Cardiff Central Station. 

 

Bus

A bus runs from both terminals at Gatwick Airport to Heathrow Terminal 2&3. This bus runs 3 times an hour and takes around 1 hour 15 minutes. From here, you can follow the Heathrow bus route listed above. The total journey time would take around 5 hours.

 

Taxi

A taxi from Gatwick Airport to Cardiff will cost £200-£220 one way and takes around 3 hours 15 minutes.

From Bristol Airport

Bus

The 216 bus runs from Bristol Airport and stops at Cardiff University. It runs every 1 hour 30 mins/2 hours and takes around 1 hour 40 minutes.

 

Taxi

A taxi from Bristol Airport to Cardiff will cost £70-£80 and takes around 1 hour 10 minutes.

From Cardiff Airport

Bus

The T9 Cardiff Airport Express Bus runs three times an hour from directly outside the Airport terminal. The Canal St stop, by the Cardiff Central Library [80 on map], stops right in the city centre (a mile away from the Cardiff University campus). This journey takes about 40 minutes. Cardiff Central Station [below 86 on map] is a 5 minute walk from the bus stop. From here, trains to Cathays Station [between 31 and 34 on map] take you to the university campus itself and run every 10 minutes.

 

Taxi

A taxi from Cardiff Airport to Cardiff University will cost £35-£40 one way and takes 35 minutes.
